PHONES AT EMBANGWENIFrom the USA, all calls to Malawi require the use of the 'country code' of 265. That means that a normal way of calling into Malawi would be to dial 011 265 and then the telephone number. Remember when calling Malawi from the USA, they are 6 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time. Malawi is on GMT+2 time. DO NOT Call them at late hours there just because it is a good time in the USA. At 6 pm EDT, it is midnight in Malawi. At 6pm PDT - it is 3am in Malawi. The best time to call is usually in the morning or early afternoon in the USA. I have removed Martha Sommers phone number from the list below due to excessive odd hour calls. If you have a need for her number, you can email Jim Nussbaumer at jim@nussbaumers.net - please include your phone number. Some of the phone numbers at Loudon Station (Embangweni) include:
ADDRESSES AT EMBANGWENIEmbangweni does have an email connection - but be aware that it is not a high speed connection. It is not even a normal Dial-up connection. It is actually a special connection via HAM radio. The email goes to a server in South Africa and then is sent via a HAM radio link to Embangweni on demand. It is very slow but is effective when it works. As a result, if you need to use this address, please DO NOT send anything very large - such as pictures or large files. It should be used very sparingly - and certainly no commercial messages. The address is 7Q7JN[AT]winlink.org (replace the [AT] with @). Since this is for email for anyone at the Embangweni station, please put the person's name in the SUBJECT line when you send something.
Physical Mail Addresses:The addresses for some of the institutions on the station are:
